ज्ञानी Noun
Jnani
ज्याला आत्मज्ञान प्राप्त झाले आहे असा

💡 Meaning

One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction is truly wise among men.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

Dnyaneshwar Maharaj explains that a person who realizes that action can be performed without attachment (making it inaction in terms of karmic bondage) and that physical inaction can still involve mental action is truly wise. A person who has transcended the ego of being the 'doer' remains untouched by the consequences of their actions, effectively seeing inaction within their actions.

🎯 Practical Application

Performing your daily duties without the ego of being the 'doer'. For example, helping someone without expecting a 'thank you' or any return favor allows you to act without creating new karmic debt.

📌 Context

Lord Krishna explains the profound paradox of action and inaction to Arjuna, which Dnyaneshwar Maharaj elaborates in this Ovi.

💡 Meaning

Do you not know this? Or have you forgotten despite knowing? Why do you consider this improper? Tell me.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar depicts Lord Krishna challenging Arjuna's state of mind. Krishna asks whether Arjuna is truly ignorant of the eternal nature of the soul or if he has simply allowed himself to be deluded by temporary emotions. Krishna points out that grieving for the inevitable change of the physical body is illogical for one who possesses spiritual knowledge. He urges Arjuna to explain why he finds the natural order of life and death to be 'improper'.

🎯 Practical Application

Use this reflection when you feel overwhelmed by temporary setbacks. Remind yourself of the core truths you already know but might have forgotten in a moment of stress. Example: Staying calm during a job loss by remembering that your skills and worth remain even if the role is gone.

📌 Context

Lord Krishna questions Arjuna's sudden delusion and grief on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

संन्यासी Noun
Sannyasi
विरक्त किंवा त्यागी पुरुष
Renunciant

💡 Meaning

Perform your actions in that manner, but do not harbor the ego of being the doer; then you will not be bound by those actions, just like a Sannyasi.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the essence of selfless action. He suggests that one should perform their duties diligently but without the ego of being the 'doer'. When the sense of agency is removed, the action does not create karmic debt. Just as a true Sannyasi remains detached despite performing actions in the world, a seeker should remain unattached to the results and the ego of action to achieve liberation.

🎯 Practical Application

In daily life, while working or studying, instead of thinking 'I am doing this,' focus on 'This is my duty.' For example, a doctor treats a patient as a duty without getting emotionally entangled in the outcome, thus maintaining mental peace regardless of the result.

📌 Context

Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna how to perform actions without being bound by their consequences by relinquishing the ego of doership.
