Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that doubts are born from ignorance and act like a dense forest that obstructs the path of truth and right action. This 'forest of doubt' prevents a person from seeing reality clearly. To overcome this, one must use the 'sword of knowledge' (Atma-jnana). The verse emphasizes that once spiritual or factual clarity is achieved, the confusion vanishes instantly. It is a call to action for the seeker to stop hesitating and use wisdom to clear their path.

When faced with uncertainty in life, instead of worrying, seek complete information and understanding. For example, if you are confused about a complex project at work, gaining the necessary skills and knowledge (the weapon) will remove the confusion (the forest) and allow you to proceed confidently.

In the concluding part of the fourth chapter, Shri Krishna (through Dnyaneshwar Maharaj) urges Arjuna to destroy his inner confusion using the power of wisdom.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that action (Karma) should not be viewed as a burden or something to be shunned. For a person of high character and social standing like Arjuna, performing one's duty is not just a personal choice but a social responsibility. If leaders abandon their duties, society loses its direction. Therefore, one must perform their 'Swadharma' (inherent duty) with dedication and without attachment to the results, setting an example for others.

One should never evade their responsibilities, even if they seem mundane. For example, a professional should complete their assigned tasks with integrity, recognizing it as their primary duty toward society.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains Krishna's guidance to Arjuna on why performing one's prescribed duties is essential for a noble person.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar uses the metaphor of camphor to describe the state of spiritual absorption (Samadhi). Camphor is unique because it leaves no residue behind when burnt; it transforms entirely into fire. Similarly, when a seeker's consciousness touches the ultimate truth, the individual ego dissolves completely. The distinction between the 'observer' and the 'observed' vanishes, leading to a state of non-duality (Advaita) where the seeker becomes one with the Divine.

To achieve mastery in any field, one must lose their self-consciousness in the task. For example, a musician becomes the music while performing, leaving no gap between the artist and the art, which leads to a perfect performance.
