💡 Meaning

Therefore, do not even let the names of sensory objects fall upon your ears; do not let this mind follow external tendencies at all.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the proactive protection of the mind. He suggests that sensory objects are so enticing that even hearing about them can trigger desire and lead to a downfall. Therefore, a seeker should not even let the mention of such objects reach their ears. By preventing the mind from flowing toward external worldly tendencies (Bahyavritti), one can preserve inner peace and focus on self-realization. It is a call for total mental discipline.

🎯 Practical Application

In modern life, this translates to avoiding 'digital noise' or toxic environments that trigger greed or envy. For example, if you are trying to focus on a healthy lifestyle, avoid watching advertisements or discussions about junk food to keep your mind disciplined.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains Lord Krishna's teaching on how a seeker should guard their mind from sensory distractions to achieve stability.

Dnyaneshwari Ch. 3, Verse 57

💡 Meaning

Perform your duties but do not desire the results. Just as roasted seeds cannot sprout, actions done without attachment do not bind you.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar elucidates the essence of Karma Yoga. He suggests that one must perform their duties (Karma) but without any attachment to the results (Phala). He uses a powerful agricultural metaphor: just as seeds that have been roasted or parched lose their ability to germinate and sprout into a plant, actions performed without the desire for rewards do not bind the individual to the cycle of cause and effect (Samsara). Such 'roasted' actions do not create new 'Samskaras' or karmic debts, leading the seeker toward spiritual liberation.

🎯 Practical Application

A professional should focus on delivering high-quality work rather than constantly worrying about a promotion or bonus. This focus leads to excellence without the anxiety of outcomes.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the concept of selfless action using the metaphor of roasted seeds.
