In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar illustrates the state of a self-realized soul. Just as rivers flow from all directions and merge into the vast ocean, losing their individual identity and becoming one with the sea, all worldly desires enter the mind of a wise person but dissolve into his inner peace. He remains unaffected and stable because he is established in the Self (Atman), which is already complete and infinite. For such a person, external objects do not create any new cravings.

Practice contentment and focus. When you are internally satisfied with your purpose, external distractions and temptations lose their power over you. Example: Staying committed to a healthy lifestyle despite being surrounded by junk food because your inner goal is stronger.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the state of a person who has attained steady wisdom (Sthitaprajna), comparing their mind to an ocean that absorbs all rivers.

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj emphasizes the importance of Swadharma (one's own duty). He questions Arjuna's hesitation, pointing out that for a warrior, there is no higher path than a righteous war. The scholarly interpretation suggests that staying true to one's inherent nature and responsibilities is the only way to spiritual and worldly success, and wavering due to emotional attachment is a deviation from the truth.

In moments of professional or personal confusion, focus on your primary responsibility. Example: A doctor must prioritize treating a patient over personal feelings, as that is their 'Dharma'.

Lord Krishna reminds Arjuna of his social and moral duty (Swadharma) as a warrior to fight for justice.

Saint Dnyaneshwar uses a powerful metaphor of an elephant stuck in mud to describe Arjuna's state. Despite being a great warrior, Arjuna is paralyzed by emotional attachment and confusion. This verse sets the stage for Lord Krishna's divine discourse, highlighting that even the strongest minds can be clouded by ignorance (Moha) when faced with personal conflict.
