Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that the soul is eternal and beyond the cycle of birth and death. Those who think they are the killers or those who think they are being killed are both ignorant of the truth. The soul neither kills nor is it killed; it is the physical body that perishes while the soul remains untouched and immutable.

In daily life, we often identify ourselves with our physical bodies or temporary roles. This verse teaches us to look beyond physical destruction and understand our inner strength. Example: Even if a business fails, the person's inner potential remains intact to start again.

Lord Krishna explains the immortality of the soul to Arjuna, and Saint Dnyaneshwar elaborates on this in Marathi.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that doubts are born from ignorance and act like a dense forest that obstructs the path of truth and right action. This 'forest of doubt' prevents a person from seeing reality clearly. To overcome this, one must use the 'sword of knowledge' (Atma-jnana). The verse emphasizes that once spiritual or factual clarity is achieved, the confusion vanishes instantly. It is a call to action for the seeker to stop hesitating and use wisdom to clear their path.

When faced with uncertainty in life, instead of worrying, seek complete information and understanding. For example, if you are confused about a complex project at work, gaining the necessary skills and knowledge (the weapon) will remove the confusion (the forest) and allow you to proceed confidently.

In the concluding part of the fourth chapter, Shri Krishna (through Dnyaneshwar Maharaj) urges Arjuna to destroy his inner confusion using the power of wisdom.

In this verse of Dnyaneshwari, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes Arjuna's state of mind as he prepares for the Great War. Arjuna asks Krishna to position the chariot in the middle of the battlefield. This act signifies the importance of situational awareness. Arjuna wants to witness the faces of those he is about to fight. It marks the calm before the storm, where the hero evaluates the magnitude of the task ahead while relying on the Divine Charioteer.
