Sanjaya, the narrator, experiences such an intense surge of pure emotions (Ashta-sattvika bhava) that his intellectual and physical capacity to restrain himself is completely overwhelmed by divine bliss.

This describes a state of flow or peak experience where one is so immersed in a higher purpose or divine feeling that self-consciousness disappears. Example: A musician becoming one with the music, losing all sense of time and surroundings.

As Sanjaya narrates the divine dialogue of the Bhagavad Gita to King Dhritarashtra, he becomes so overwhelmed by spiritual ecstasy that he loses his mental composure.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar uses a beautiful metaphor of aquatic life to describe the state of a realized soul. Just as fish and other water-dwelling creatures live their entire lives in water yet remain unaffected by its wetness, a Sthitaprajna (one with stable intellect) moves through the world of sensory objects and social interactions without being 'soaked' by attachment, ego, or desire. Their inner consciousness remains anchored in the Self, ensuring that while they are 'in' the world, they are not 'of' the world.

Apply this by practicing 'mindful detachment' at work. Be fully present in your tasks, but do not let the stress of competition or the fear of failure disturb your inner peace, much like water sliding off a duck's back.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a person of steady wisdom (Sthitaprajna) interacts with the material world without being affected by its dualities.

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj describes the subtle state of a realized soul. A wise person perceives that even while performing physical actions, there is a state of non-action (Akarma) because they are free from ego and attachment to results. Conversely, physical stillness is not true inaction if the mind is restless with desires. This profound truth is difficult to grasp even for a sharp intellect.

Practice mindfulness in daily tasks. For example, while studying, focus entirely on the subject without worrying about the grades, thus performing the action without the burden of the result.
