💡 Meaning

One who has realized the Self and has become one with the Self, has no further duties left to perform.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the pinnacle of spiritual achievement. When a seeker realizes the Atman (Self) and merges their identity with it, they transcend the realm of 'doership'. Since such a person finds complete fulfillment within themselves, they no longer seek external results. Consequently, there is no 'duty' left for them to perform for personal gain, as they have already attained the ultimate goal of human life.

🎯 Practical Application

In practical life, this teaches us to find internal satisfaction. When you work out of passion and inner joy rather than just for external rewards, the work ceases to be a burden and becomes a natural expression of your being.

📌 Context

Shri Krishna explains the state of a person who has attained self-realization and is free from the bonds of mandatory duties.

"Therefore, do not let go of the association with action in your heart; however, do not be carried away in the flow of seeking its fruits."

अंतःकरणीं Noun

वाहणीं Noun
Vahani

In the flow or stream

💡 Meaning

Therefore, do not abandon the performance of action in your heart, but do not let yourself be carried away by the desire for its fruits.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar elucidates the core philosophy of Karma Yoga. He advises that one should not abandon their duties or actions ('karmachiya milani na sandije') because action is inherent to human existence. However, the crucial instruction is to remain detached from the outcomes ('phalachiya vahani na vhave'). When an individual is driven solely by the desire for rewards, they become vulnerable to anxiety and spiritual bondage. By focusing on the action itself and surrendering the results, one attains mental peace and performs every act as a selfless offering.

🎯 Practical Application

While working on a professional project, focus entirely on the quality and integrity of your work rather than constantly worrying about the promotion or bonus you might receive.

📌 Context

In the fifth chapter, Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the balance between performing one's duty and remaining detached from the results, emphasizing that true renunciation is internal.

💡 Meaning

Therefore, know that contemplating sensory objects is the root of all calamities; one must restrain the mind from it completely.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that the root cause of all suffering and spiritual downfall is the constant contemplation of sensory objects. When the mind dwells on worldly pleasures, it develops an attachment, which leads to desire, and eventually to anger and delusion. To prevent this chain reaction, one must consciously withdraw the mind from such thoughts. It is a call for mental discipline as the foundation of peace.

🎯 Practical Application

In daily life, if you find yourself obsessing over social media or unhealthy habits, recognize that the thought itself is the starting point of the habit. Redirect your focus to a productive task to maintain mental peace.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the psychological process of how attachment to sensory objects leads to a person's downfall.
