Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that doubt is not a fundamental reality but a product of ignorance. He compares doubt to a 'padal' (a film or cataract over the eye) that obscures vision. To regain clarity, one must use the 'Jnana-shastra' (the weapon of knowledge). This scholarly interpretation suggests that intellectual conviction combined with spiritual experience is the only way to overcome the paralysis caused by indecision and lack of faith.

In practical life, whenever you are paralyzed by indecision, seek the truth and gather facts. For instance, if you doubt your ability to complete a project, gain the necessary skills and information; this knowledge will automatically remove the doubt and give you the confidence to act.

In the concluding verses of the fourth chapter, Krishna (through Dnyaneshwar's commentary) urges Arjuna to slash through the confusion of the mind using the sword of self-realization.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that spiritual stability is achieved through the mastery of senses. Just as a tortoise protects itself by withdrawing its limbs, a seeker protects their consciousness by withdrawing the senses from external temptations. This internal focus allows the intellect to remain firmly established in the Divine Self, undisturbed by the dualities of the world.

Practicing self-discipline in daily life, such as resisting the urge to procrastinate or overindulge in social media, helps in building a focused and peaceful mind. Example: Choosing a healthy meal over junk food despite the craving.

Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna that true wisdom is established only when the senses are completely withdrawn from worldly objects.

Saint Dnyaneshwar illustrates that just as a blazing fire consumes wood and turns it into fuel for its own growth, eventually reducing it to ashes, the fire of self-realization (Jnana) destroys the bondage of all actions. When a person attains true wisdom, the ego and the sense of 'doership' are annihilated, meaning the karmic consequences no longer bind the soul.

To eliminate the burden of past mistakes or ignorance, one must seek the light of knowledge. For example, the fear of a difficult task vanishes once you gain the proper knowledge and skills to perform it.
