The King and the Foolish Monkey
Long ago, in a prosperous kingdom, lived a powerful king who was very fond of animals. Among all his pets, a monkey was his favorite. The king trusted the monkey so much that it had free access to every part of the palace, including the king's private chambers. The monkey was loyal and remained by the king's side at all times. One hot summer afternoon, the king decided to take a nap in his bedroom. He instructed the monkey to stand guard and ensure that his sleep was not disturbed. The monkey began to fan the king gently. As the king fell into a deep sleep, a fly entered the room and landed on the king's nose. The monkey shooed it away with the fan. However, the fly returned and sat on the king's forehead. The monkey chased it away again, but the persistent fly kept coming back, landing sometimes on the king's cheek and sometimes on his chest. The monkey grew extremely frustrated and angry. He felt that the fly was disrespecting the king and hindering his duty. In a fit of rage, the monkey spotted the king's sharp sword lying nearby. He picked it up, determined to kill the fly once and for all. When the fly landed on the king's chest again, the monkey struck with all his might. The fly quickly flew away, but the heavy sword struck the king's chest, killing him instantly. The king lost his life because of the foolishness of his loyal friend.
💡 Moral
