The Blue Jackal and the Hidden Truth
In a dense forest, there lived a jackal named Chandarava. He was exceptionally cunning and agile, but one day, while wandering in search of food, he accidentally entered a human settlement. It was night, and the village dogs began to chase him. To save his life, Chandarava ran frantically. In his haste, he fell into a large vat of indigo dye outside a dyer's house. The vat was filled to the brim with blue dye. Chandarava was completely drenched in it. After some time, when the dogs had left, he climbed out of the vat. When he looked at himself, he was blue from head to toe. Initially, he was frightened, but then a clever idea struck his mind. He returned to the forest in that state. The other forest animals were terrified upon seeing him; they had never seen such a strange creature. Chandarava decided to take advantage of this. In a solemn voice, he announced, 'O forest dwellers, do not be afraid! Lord Brahma appeared in my dream tonight and told me that he is sending me to protect and rule over the animals of the Earth. From today, I am your king, and my name is Kakudruma.' The animals believed he was truly a messenger of God. Even powerful animals like the lion, tiger, elephant, and leopard bowed before him. Chandarava appointed the tiger as his bodyguard, the lion as his minister, and the elephant as his gatekeeper. However, he banished the other jackals from his court, fearing they might recognize him. This charade continued for many days. Chandarava was enjoying the royal luxuries comfortably. He no longer needed to hunt, as other animals brought him food. But one evening, a pack of jackals was passing nearby. As was their habit, the pack started howling collectively. Hearing the sound of his own kind, Chandarava forgot his royal persona. His innate instinct was awakened. In a fit of excitement, he tilted his head back and began to howl loudly. The lion and the other animals immediately realized that he was not a divine messenger but a mere jackal. Realizing they had been deceived, all the animals grew furious and attacked Chandarava. Thus, due to his deception, Chandarava lost his life.
