💡 Meaning

Therefore, know for certain that the wisdom of one whose senses are completely under his own control is steady and firm.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that true spiritual wisdom is only attained when an individual has complete mastery over their senses. Just as a tortoise withdraws its limbs into its shell for protection, a wise person withdraws their senses from worldly distractions to focus on the inner self. Without this control, the intellect remains scattered and unstable. Mastery over the senses is the prerequisite for a steady mind (Sthitaprajna).

🎯 Practical Application

In modern life, practicing sense control means having the discipline to resist distractions like social media or unhealthy habits when you need to focus on your goals. For example, a student who chooses to study instead of playing video games is exercising the control mentioned in this verse.

📌 Context

Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna the final characteristic of a person with stable wisdom, emphasizing the necessity of sense control.

Dnyaneshwari Ch. 5, Verse 106

💡 Meaning

Just as a single person is called a friend or a relative depending on the relation, similarly, Yoga and Sanyasa should be understood as being of the same essence.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar uses a brilliant analogy to resolve the apparent conflict between Sanyasa (Renunciation) and Karma Yoga (Path of Action). He explains that just as a single individual can be addressed as a 'friend' by one person and a 'relative' by another based on the relationship, the person remains the same. Similarly, Yoga and Sanyasa are two different perspectives or names for the same spiritual truth. They both lead to the same ultimate liberation. The distinction exists only in the minds of those who lack complete understanding; for the wise, they are inseparable.

🎯 Practical Application

In professional life, do not separate your 'work' from your 'ethics'. When you perform your duties with a sense of detachment and service, your daily work (Yoga) becomes a form of spiritual renunciation (Sanyasa).

📌 Context

Shri Krishna explains the fundamental unity between the path of knowledge (Sanyasa) and the path of action (Yoga).

💡 Meaning

Therefore, there is no sin more terrible than doubt; it is a wide and certain path leading to one's own destruction.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that doubt is the most formidable enemy of a seeker. He describes doubt not just as a mental state but as a 'sin' because it leads to the total destruction of one's efforts and peace. Like a wide highway leading to a cliff, doubt provides an easy but certain path to downfall. It paralyzes the will to act and obscures the truth. To achieve success or liberation, one must use the sword of knowledge to cut through this uncertainty.

🎯 Practical Application

In professional life, doubting your decisions after careful planning leads to procrastination. For example, if a manager constantly doubts their strategy, the team loses direction and the project fails. Confidence derived from knowledge is essential for leadership.

📌 Context

After explaining the power of knowledge, Shri Krishna (through Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's commentary) warns Arjuna about the destructive nature of doubt which hinders spiritual and worldly progress.
