💡 Meaning

One who has realized the Self and has become one with the Self, has no further duties left to perform.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the pinnacle of spiritual achievement. When a seeker realizes the Atman (Self) and merges their identity with it, they transcend the realm of 'doership'. Since such a person finds complete fulfillment within themselves, they no longer seek external results. Consequently, there is no 'duty' left for them to perform for personal gain, as they have already attained the ultimate goal of human life.

🎯 Practical Application

In practical life, this teaches us to find internal satisfaction. When you work out of passion and inner joy rather than just for external rewards, the work ceases to be a burden and becomes a natural expression of your being.

📌 Context

Shri Krishna explains the state of a person who has attained self-realization and is free from the bonds of mandatory duties.

💡 Meaning

Therefore, when a state is naturally attained where even the names of sensory objects do not reach the ears, that is the mark of steady wisdom.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the pinnacle of sensory control. A person of steady wisdom reaches a state where sensory objects no longer hold any power over them. This detachment is so profound that even hearing the names of worldly pleasures does not trigger any desire or mental agitation. This state is not forced but becomes their natural disposition (Svabhava). It signifies a mind so deeply anchored in the self that external stimuli fail to even register as distractions.

🎯 Practical Application

In modern life, this can be applied as 'deep work' or 'flow state'. For example, when you are so focused on a creative project or study that you don't even notice your phone ringing or people talking nearby, you are practicing a form of this mental steadiness.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the characteristics of a person with steady wisdom (Sthitaprajna), focusing on total detachment from sensory distractions.

💡 Meaning

And O Arjuna, if you consider your own duty as a warrior, you will realize that there is nothing more appropriate for you than this righteous war.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that one's inherent duty (Swadharma) is paramount. For a warrior, a righteous war is not a sin but a duty. He suggests that looking at the situation through the lens of duty removes confusion and provides a clear path of action. This verse bridges the gap between spiritual realization and worldly responsibility, emphasizing that fulfilling one's social role is a form of spiritual practice.

🎯 Practical Application

In professional life, one should stick to their ethics and responsibilities even when faced with emotional dilemmas. For instance, a doctor must treat a patient with full dedication, as it is their professional duty (Swadharma), regardless of the patient's background.

📌 Context

Lord Krishna addresses Arjuna's hesitation by appealing to his sense of duty as a warrior (Kshatriya).
