Saint Dnyaneshwar uses a profound metaphor of the sky to explain the concept of non-duality (Advaita). He suggests that just as any perceived form or illusion in the sky eventually dissolves back into the sky itself, the individual consciousness, which appears distinct due to ignorance, eventually merges into the supreme Self. Upon enlightenment, the seeker realizes that the light of the soul was never separate from the soul itself; the observer and the observed become one.

Understand that temporary emotions like ego or anxiety are just passing clouds in the vast sky of your consciousness. Example: When you feel angry, realize it is a temporary state that will dissolve, leaving your inner peace untouched if you don't attach to it.

In the second chapter, Saint Dnyaneshwar explains Krishna's teachings about the eternal nature of the soul and the illusion of duality.

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj defines the state of 'Jivanmukti' (liberation while alive). He explains that a person who has discovered the fountain of joy within their own heart and is satisfied through self-knowledge (Atma-bodha) transcends the physical limitations of the body. Such an individual does not need to wait for death to attain the Divine; they become one with the Supreme Reality (Parabrahma) even while performing worldly duties. It emphasizes that true liberation is a state of consciousness, not a post-death destination.

In modern life, we often seek happiness in material gains or social validation. This verse teaches us to practice introspection. For example, instead of reacting impulsively to external stress, if one looks inward and maintains mental equanimity, they experience a state of 'flow' and peace that is independent of external circumstances.

Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the state of a liberated soul who finds eternal bliss within themselves rather than in external objects.

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj emphasizes that for a person of high social standing and honor, losing that reputation is worse than death. He points out that the very warriors who admired Arjuna's skill would now view him as a coward who fled out of fear, not out of compassion. This psychological argument is used to motivate Arjuna to perform his duty.

Running away from challenges leads to a loss of credibility. For example, if a professional quits a project mid-way due to pressure, they lose the respect of their colleagues and industry peers.
