💡 Meaning

O Arjuna, even if an action is very excellent, it is not equal to the yoga of wisdom (Buddhi Yoga).

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that any action, no matter how virtuous or 'excellent' it appears externally, is far inferior to 'Buddhi Yoga' (the yoga of stable intellect). Actions driven by desire for results bind an individual to the cycle of cause and effect. In contrast, an action performed with a balanced mind, surrendered to the divine without attachment to the outcome, is the path to liberation. Those who work only for results are considered 'miserly' because they miss the infinite peace of the self for temporary gains.

🎯 Practical Application

Focus on the quality of your work rather than worrying about the reward. For example, a professional should focus on solving a problem effectively rather than just thinking about the promotion that might follow.

📌 Context

Lord Krishna, through Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's commentary, explains why performing actions with a balanced mind is superior to performing them with a desire for rewards.

💡 Meaning

Therefore, O Arjuna, do not grieve now. Reflect upon this truth within your heart.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the practical application of spiritual knowledge. He suggests that once the intellect grasps the distinction between the transient body and the eternal self, emotional suffering (Kheda) should naturally cease. He urges Arjuna to internalize this wisdom ('reflect within the mind') to gain the strength required to perform his duty as a warrior without being clouded by unnecessary sorrow.

🎯 Practical Application

In modern life, we often face setbacks that cause deep distress. This verse teaches us to use our reasoning to understand that change is inevitable. Example: Instead of grieving over a lost job, one should calmly reflect on their skills and look for new opportunities, maintaining mental balance.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains Krishna's advice to Arjuna regarding the futility of grief after understanding the eternal nature of the soul.

💡 Meaning

Therefore, whatever is appropriate and comes to you by occasion, perform that action flawlessly and without attachment.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the performance of 'Ucita Karma' (appropriate action). He suggests that whatever duty comes to us naturally by time or circumstance should be performed with absolute purity. The term 'Akalaṅkata' is crucial; it implies performing actions without the stain of ego, selfishness, or desire for results, thereby transforming the action into a spiritual practice that does not bind the soul.

🎯 Practical Application

In daily life, instead of avoiding difficult tasks, one should focus on doing their current responsibilities with full integrity. For example, an employee completing their task honestly without just focusing on the reward, but on the quality of work.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a seeker should perform their duties without ego or attachment to results.
