Dnyaneshwar uses the metaphor of a sharp weapon to describe Viveka, suggesting that only a sharp, focused, and analytical mind can cut through the confusion of the ego and uproot the fundamental ignorance that causes doubt.

In daily life, when faced with uncertainty regarding your goals or self-worth, do not let doubt fester. Use logical reasoning and self-reflection (Viveka) to identify the source of your fear and eliminate it. For example, if you doubt your ability to complete a project, use discernment to break down the task and address each concern with facts rather than fear.

In the concluding verses of the fourth chapter, Shri Krishna advises Arjuna to slash the doubt in his heart with the sword of knowledge. Dnyaneshwar Maharaj elaborates on this by emphasizing the role of Viveka (discernment).
