In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that true stability of intellect is achieved only by one who has mastered their senses. He compares worldly pleasures to poison ('Vishaya-visha'), suggesting that just as poison destroys the body, uncontrolled sensory desires destroy spiritual progress. A person who remains untouched by these temptations and keeps their senses withdrawn from their objects is recognized as a 'Purna' or a perfected soul.

In modern life, practicing restraint against digital distractions or unhealthy cravings is a form of sense control. Example: Choosing to focus on a long-term goal instead of immediate gratification from social media likes.

Saint Dnyaneshwar concludes the description of a Sthitaprajna (a person of steady wisdom) by emphasizing sense control.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the concept of divine detachment. Even though the Supreme Lord is the cause of all actions in the universe (creation, sustenance, and destruction), He remains untouched by them. This is the paradox of 'doing while not doing'. Just as the sun provides light for all activities on Earth but remains untainted by the nature of those activities, the Divine operates the cosmos with natural detachment. For a seeker, this serves as a guide to perform duties without ego or attachment to results.

Practice performing your daily duties without the sense of 'doership' or attachment to the outcome. For example, helping someone in need without expecting gratitude or recognition allows you to remain peaceful and detached.

Lord Krishna explains his divine nature and how he remains detached from the actions of the world despite being their source.

Saint Dnyaneshwar describes Arjuna's mental state in this verse. Just as the brilliant sun becomes invisible when thick clouds gather in the sky, Arjuna's valor and discernment are hidden under the clouds of delusion. Arjuna is inherently wise and brave, but his intellect has become clouded due to the attachment (moha) towards his kinsmen at the onset of war.

When we make wrong decisions by being overwhelmed by emotions in a difficult situation, we should reflect on this verse. For example, feeling despondent after failing an exam is like clouds of delusion covering our self-confidence.
