In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar highlights the paradox of self-knowledge. Although the Atman (Self) is our very essence and always present, its realization brings a sense of profound wonder. The 'wonder' arises because the seeker realizes that what they were searching for everywhere was actually within them all along. It is a state beyond intellectual comprehension where only pure amazement remains. This corresponds to the Vedic idea that the soul is the greatest mystery of existence.

Realizing one's own hidden potential often brings a sense of surprise. Just as a person might be surprised by their own inner strength during a crisis, we should strive to discover our true inner self through introspection. Example: When you finally understand a complex concept, the 'Aha!' moment is similar to the wonder described here.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the mysterious and wonderful nature of the soul (Atman) as a commentary on Gita 2.29.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the state of 'Samadhi' or spiritual absorption. When the 'Sattva' quality dominates the mind due to divine proximity or knowledge, the ego and the conscious effort to control one's emotions dissolve. Sanjaya, the narrator, experiences such an intense surge of pure emotions (Ashta-sattvika bhava) that his intellectual and physical capacity to restrain himself is completely overwhelmed by divine bliss.

This describes a state of flow or peak experience where one is so immersed in a higher purpose or divine feeling that self-consciousness disappears. Example: A musician becoming one with the music, losing all sense of time and surroundings.

As Sanjaya narrates the divine dialogue of the Bhagavad Gita to King Dhritarashtra, he becomes so overwhelmed by spiritual ecstasy that he loses his mental composure.

Saint Dnyaneshwar illustrates that just as a blazing fire consumes wood and turns it into fuel for its own growth, eventually reducing it to ashes, the fire of self-realization (Jnana) destroys the bondage of all actions. When a person attains true wisdom, the ego and the sense of 'doership' are annihilated, meaning the karmic consequences no longer bind the soul.

To eliminate the burden of past mistakes or ignorance, one must seek the light of knowledge. For example, the fear of a difficult task vanishes once you gain the proper knowledge and skills to perform it.
