Dnyaneshwar Maharaj uses a beautiful analogy of a boat to explain the path of action. To cross the river of worldly existence, one must perform actions (Karma). Similarly, by performing selfless actions according to one's duty, one purifies the mind and eventually reaches a state of 'Akarma' or actionlessness, where the ego-driven sense of doership vanishes and the bondage of karma is broken.

In professional life, use your daily tasks as a means to gain expertise. Once you master the skill, the mechanical effort (the 'boat') becomes secondary to the natural flow of your talent (the 'shore'). Perform your duty without being obsessed with the process once the goal is achieved.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how to transcend the bondage of actions by performing them correctly as a means to an end.

In this verse, Arjuna appeals to Lord Krishna to provide a definitive and uncomplicated path. He seeks a way of life or action that is inherently 'proper' (Uchita) and 'easy' (Sope) to execute. His primary concern is to avoid the accumulation of 'sins' (Papa) while performing his duties. This reflects the human desire for clarity when faced with complex moral dilemmas, seeking a path that balances duty with spiritual safety.

In daily life, when faced with a choice, one should look for the path that is ethically sound and sustainable. For example, choosing honesty in business might seem difficult, but it is the 'proper' path that prevents the 'sin' of guilt and legal trouble later.

Arjuna is confused by Krishna's previous explanation and asks for a single, clear path that is easy to follow and free from sin.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that the hallmark of a 'Sthitaprajna' is the total absorption in the Self. When a seeker attains the bliss of the soul, all external sensory pleasures become tasteless and insignificant. Just as a person who has tasted nectar no longer craves ordinary water, the enlightened soul finds no sweetness in worldly objects. Such a person is self-contained and remains undisturbed by external circumstances, anchored firmly in their inner divinity.
