Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that doubt is not a fundamental reality but a product of ignorance. He compares doubt to a 'padal' (a film or cataract over the eye) that obscures vision. To regain clarity, one must use the 'Jnana-shastra' (the weapon of knowledge). This scholarly interpretation suggests that intellectual conviction combined with spiritual experience is the only way to overcome the paralysis caused by indecision and lack of faith.

In practical life, whenever you are paralyzed by indecision, seek the truth and gather facts. For instance, if you doubt your ability to complete a project, gain the necessary skills and information; this knowledge will automatically remove the doubt and give you the confidence to act.

In the concluding verses of the fourth chapter, Krishna (through Dnyaneshwar's commentary) urges Arjuna to slash through the confusion of the mind using the sword of self-realization.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the essence of selfless action. He suggests that one should perform their duties diligently but without the ego of being the 'doer'. When the sense of agency is removed, the action does not create karmic debt. Just as a true Sannyasi remains detached despite performing actions in the world, a seeker should remain unattached to the results and the ego of action to achieve liberation.

In daily life, while working or studying, instead of thinking 'I am doing this,' focus on 'This is my duty.' For example, a doctor treats a patient as a duty without getting emotionally entangled in the outcome, thus maintaining mental peace regardless of the result.

Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna how to perform actions without being bound by their consequences by relinquishing the ego of doership.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that there is no sin more terrible or dangerous than doubt. Doubt acts as a wide and easy path leading straight to one's downfall. It clouds judgment, weakens resolve, and prevents an individual from realizing the ultimate truth or achieving their goals. To achieve spiritual or material success, one must overcome the internal conflict caused by a doubting mind. A person filled with doubt loses their direction and peace, effectively choosing a path that leads to total destruction.

In daily life, doubting your own potential or the integrity of a good relationship can lead to failure and loneliness. For example, if a student doubts their preparation despite studying hard, they may panic during the exam and perform poorly. Confidence and clarity are the antidotes to doubt.
