In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj clarifies the nature of 'Akarma' (inaction in action). A person who has realized the Self continues to perform worldly duties for the benefit of society. However, because their ego has dissolved into universal consciousness, the sense of 'I am doing this' (Kartrutva-bhav) never arises. He uses the analogy of the sun: the sun doesn't 'try' to remove darkness; its very nature is light. Similarly, the actions of a realized soul are spontaneous and natural, leaving no karmic residue because the individual ego is absent.

Perform your duties as a natural expression of your role rather than a means to feed your ego. For example, just as breathing is natural and we don't take pride in it, our service to others should be spontaneous and free from the expectation of praise or the burden of 'doing'.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a realized soul performs actions without being bound by the ego of doership.

In this commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that the conduct of influential individuals becomes the standard for society. Common people often lack the deep philosophical understanding to determine the right path, so they naturally emulate those they respect. This places a heavy moral responsibility on leaders, scholars, and elders. If they act with integrity and follow their duties (Dharma), the rest of society remains stable and righteous. Conversely, if leaders falter, the social fabric degrades. Thus, one must act responsibly not just for oneself, but for the collective good.

In any organization, the culture is set by the top leadership. Example: If a CEO prioritizes transparency and honesty, the employees will naturally value and practice those same principles in their daily work.

Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna that a wise person must perform their duties because their actions serve as a blueprint for the rest of society.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar elaborates on Krishna's declaration of His divinity. While both the individual soul (Jiva) and the Supreme Lord (Ishvara) undergo numerous incarnations, the Jiva is bound by the veil of Maya, leading to the loss of memory of previous existences. Krishna, being the master of Maya and the eternal witness, remains untouched by this forgetfulness. He possesses complete and simultaneous knowledge of all past, present, and future events, establishing His position as the omniscient Supreme Being.

This verse teaches us humility and trust in a higher intelligence. When we face inexplicable situations, we should realize that our perspective is limited to this life, while the Divine sees the entire journey of our soul across lifetimes.
