In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj elucidates that once a seeker attains the direct experience (Pratiti) of the Self, the dualities of action and inaction (Karma-Akarma) cease to bind them. The realization that the true Self is a non-doer dissolves the ego. Consequently, even while engaged in worldly activities, the enlightened soul remains as detached as a lotus leaf in water, unaffected by the results of their deeds because the fire of knowledge has consumed the binding nature of karma.

Perform your daily duties with excellence but without the ego of being the sole 'doer'. For example, a student who studies hard but remains calm regardless of the result, focusing on the knowledge gained rather than just the marks, practices this detachment.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a self-realized person remains untouched by the bonds of karma through the power of spiritual experience.

Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the concept of 'Loksangraha' (guiding society). He argues that influential individuals have a moral obligation to act righteously. Since the masses tend to imitate their leaders, any lapse in the leader's conduct can lead to social degradation. Thus, a 'Samartha' (capable person) must be exemplary in their actions to ensure the common people follow a righteous path.

A leader in an organization must exhibit the values they want their team to adopt. For example, if a CEO practices transparency and punctuality, the entire company culture naturally aligns with those values.

Shri Krishna explains why the wise and powerful must perform their duties diligently to set a standard for society.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar illustrates the concept of Advaita (non-duality). He explains that a wave in the ocean might momentarily perceive itself as a distinct entity due to its form and movement. However, its fundamental essence is nothing but water. When the wave subsides, it loses its individual identity and merges back into the vastness of the ocean. Similarly, an enlightened person (Sthitaprajna) realizes that their individual ego is an illusion and that they are inherently one with the Universal Consciousness.

In practical life, this teaching helps in reducing ego. When we realize that we are part of a larger whole, our conflicts with others diminish. Example: In a corporate environment, seeing yourself as an integral part of the organization's success rather than working only for personal glory.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the state of oneness between the individual soul and the Supreme Soul using the metaphor of a wave and the ocean.
