The reason Arjuna is chosen as the recipient of this 'Guhya' (secret) is his dual qualification: he is a 'Bhakta' (devotee) and a 'Pranamitra' (a friend as dear as life itself). It emphasizes that spiritual secrets are not hidden to be elitist, but because they require a specific frequency of trust and surrender to be understood and assimilated.

In practical life, this teaches us that deep insights and mentorship are earned through loyalty and dedication. For example, a mentor only shares their most valuable professional secrets with an apprentice who shows genuine commitment and trust.

Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that He is revealing the ancient secret of Yoga to him because of Arjuna's devotion and friendship.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar provides a profound analogy for a person of steady wisdom. The ocean is naturally full and self-contained. Even when numerous rivers pour their voluminous waters into it, especially during the monsoon, the ocean neither overflows its boundaries nor shows a visible increase in its vastness. Similarly, a wise person remains internally undisturbed even when sensory desires or external circumstances approach them. They are so deeply anchored in their own self-realization that external additions or subtractions do not alter their inner state of absolute peace.

Maintain inner stability regardless of external gains or losses. For example, if you receive a major promotion, stay humble and grounded; if you face a setback, stay calm and composed like the ocean.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the stability of a realized soul (Sthitaprajna) using the metaphor of an ocean that remains undisturbed despite the influx of rivers.

Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the profound impact of a leader's conduct on society. He explains that common people do not always refer to complex scriptures to decide their course of action; instead, they observe the behavior of those they consider 'Samartha' (capable or influential). Whatever a great person establishes through their actions becomes the 'Pramana' (the standard or authority) for others. Therefore, to ensure that society moves in the right direction, it is the responsibility of the wise to lead by example rather than just words.
