In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar captures the essence of Krishna's command to Arjuna. Krishna identifies that Arjuna's reluctance to fight is not out of wisdom, but out of a deluded mind. He instructs Arjuna to stop deceiving himself with false sentiments of grief. By asking him to 'take up the bow', Krishna emphasizes that action (Karma) is the only way to overcome mental anxiety and fulfill one's destiny.

When faced with a daunting task, stop overthinking and start doing. For example, if you are nervous about a presentation, stop worrying about the results and focus on practicing your delivery.

Lord Krishna urges Arjuna to stop his mental hesitation and prepare for the battle of righteousness.

Saint Dnyaneshwar describes Arjuna's mental state in this verse. Just as the brilliant sun becomes invisible when thick clouds gather in the sky, Arjuna's valor and discernment are hidden under the clouds of delusion. Arjuna is inherently wise and brave, but his intellect has become clouded due to the attachment (moha) towards his kinsmen at the onset of war.

When we make wrong decisions by being overwhelmed by emotions in a difficult situation, we should reflect on this verse. For example, feeling despondent after failing an exam is like clouds of delusion covering our self-confidence.

Sanjaya describes Arjuna's state of mind to King Dhritarashtra at the beginning of the second chapter.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the concept of 'Sahaja Karma' or situational duty. He suggests that one should not look for extraordinary tasks but should focus on what is 'Uchita' (right/appropriate) and 'Prapta' (presented by the current moment). By performing these duties promptly and without attachment, one aligns with the cosmic order. It is a call to action against procrastination and escapism, teaching that divinity is found in the perfection of one's immediate responsibilities.

If a student sees a classmate struggling with a topic they understand well, helping them is an 'appropriate duty presented by the occasion.' Instead of ignoring it or delaying, one should act immediately to help, treating it as their primary duty.
