In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar elaborates on the properties of the Atman (Soul). While physical objects are subject to destruction by these elements, the soul remains untouched, eternal, and constant. It is the substratum of existence that cannot be modified or destroyed by any physical means, highlighting the distinction between the perishable body and the imperishable self.

Understanding that our core essence is eternal helps reduce the fear of death and physical loss. Example: Staying calm during a health crisis by realizing that the inner self remains whole despite physical ailments.

Shri Krishna explains the indestructible and eternal nature of the soul to Arjuna to remove his grief.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that spiritual stability is impossible without mastery over the senses. He interprets Krishna's advice to Arjuna as a call to bring all sensory organs under the rule of the intellect. Just as a chariot is controlled by its driver through the reins, the human mind must be stabilized by restraining the senses from wandering toward worldly pleasures. Only then can one attain the unwavering state of enlightenment.

In modern life, practicing a 'digital detox' or focusing on a single task by ignoring social media notifications is a practical application of this teaching on sense control.
