In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar elucidates the profound concept of 'Akarma' (non-action). He explains that when a person attains self-realization, their identification with the physical body and the ego ('I am the doer') dissolves. Consequently, even though they appear to be performing worldly duties, those actions do not produce any karmic seeds. Just as a roasted seed loses its ability to sprout, actions performed in the light of knowledge do not result in future consequences or bondage. The action remains physically present but spiritually neutralized.

Apply the principle of 'selfless service' in your profession. For instance, a doctor treating a patient should focus on the healing process as a duty rather than being obsessed with the fame or wealth it might bring, thus reducing mental stress.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how the actions of a self-realized person do not bind them to the cycle of rebirth.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar interprets Krishna's call to action. After explaining the immortality of the soul, Krishna warns Arjuna that delusion (Moha) is like a predator that consumes one's clarity of mind. He urges Arjuna (Pandusuta) to employ 'Vichara'—the faculty of spiritual discrimination—to prevent his mind from being overwhelmed by grief and attachment. It is a call to rise above temporary emotions and perform one's righteous duty.

In moments of emotional crisis or confusion, instead of reacting impulsively based on attachment, one should pause and use logical reasoning to decide the right course of action. For example, when facing a failure, instead of falling into despair, one should analyze the situation objectively to find a way forward.

Krishna advises Arjuna to use his power of discrimination to overcome the delusion caused by attachment.

Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that there is nothing in this world as purifying as self-knowledge. It is the ultimate cleanser of the intellect and soul. Just as fire purifies gold, knowledge destroys the dross of ignorance and doubt. A seeker who practices karma yoga and attains mental purity eventually realizes this supreme truth within their own heart through the passage of time and consistent practice.
