In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar interprets Krishna's advice to Arjuna regarding the nature of true renunciation. Krishna warns Arjuna that simply walking away from the battlefield or his duties by convincing himself that he is seeking peace is a form of self-deception. True renunciation (Sannyasa) is an internal state of detachment, not a physical escape from responsibilities. Krishna urges Arjuna to be honest with his own conscience and not use 'Sannyasa' as an excuse to avoid the difficult task ahead of him.

One should not use spirituality as an escape route from worldly responsibilities. For instance, if a professional faces a challenge at work, quitting by claiming 'I am above material success' while actually being afraid of failure is deceiving the mind. One must face challenges with integrity.

Lord Krishna advises Arjuna not to abandon his duty by deceiving his own mind under the pretext of renunciation.

In this verse, Sant Dnyaneshwar emphasizes the concept of 'Lokasangraha'—the maintenance of the world order. He advises Arjuna that even if one has attained knowledge and has no personal need for action, they must continue to perform their worldly duties. This is because common people look up to leaders and wise individuals for guidance. If a leader stops performing their duties, it creates confusion and leads to social decay. Therefore, for the sake of social stability and to provide a righteous path for others, one must remain active in their prescribed duties.

This verse teaches us that our actions serve as a blueprint for others. In a professional setting, a leader must adhere to the rules and work ethics they expect from their team, as their behavior sets the standard for the entire organization.

Shri Krishna, through Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, explains why even an enlightened person should continue to perform their duties to set an example for society.

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj addresses Arjuna's grief by highlighting the nature of the 'Nirguna' (attributeless) soul. He asserts that sorrow is a product of ignorance (Ajnyana). Since the soul is eternal and cannot be destroyed, feeling sorrow for it is logically inconsistent with spiritual truth. Once the light of self-knowledge dawns, this ignorance cannot be sustained, just as darkness cannot exist in the presence of light.

In daily life, we often get overwhelmed by temporary losses. This verse teaches us to maintain equanimity by realizing that our inner self is constant. Example: Instead of being devastated by a material loss, one should focus on their inner strength and move forward with wisdom.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that grieving for the eternal soul is a result of ignorance, as the soul is beyond all attributes and destruction.
