In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the pinnacle of spiritual achievement. When a seeker realizes the Atman (Self) and merges their identity with it, they transcend the realm of 'doership'. Since such a person finds complete fulfillment within themselves, they no longer seek external results. Consequently, there is no 'duty' left for them to perform for personal gain, as they have already attained the ultimate goal of human life.

In practical life, this teaches us to find internal satisfaction. When you work out of passion and inner joy rather than just for external rewards, the work ceases to be a burden and becomes a natural expression of your being.

Shri Krishna explains the state of a person who has attained self-realization and is free from the bonds of mandatory duties.

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar emphasizes that mastery over the senses is the prerequisite for spiritual enlightenment. When a seeker prevents their senses from wandering toward external worldly pleasures, the mind turns inward. This internal focus leads to the discovery of 'Atmasukha' (the bliss of the soul), which is described as a 'Samrajya' (Empire) because it is vast, sovereign, and independent of external circumstances. The use of the word 'Sahaje' (easily) implies that once the senses are mastered, the realization of the self is not a forced labor but a natural state of being.

In modern life, practicing discipline in daily habits, such as controlling the urge to procrastinate or managing emotional outbursts, is a form of sense control. For example, choosing to focus on a long-term goal instead of immediate gratification leads to lasting mental peace and success.

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the characteristics of a 'Sthitaprajna' (one with steady wisdom) and emphasizes how sense control leads to spiritual sovereignty.

Sanjaya describes the divine state of Lord Krishna. Seeing Arjuna overwhelmed by grief and confusion, Krishna's heart filled with immense compassion. Dnyaneshwar Maharaj uses the metaphor of a rain-bearing cloud. Just as a heavy cloud is eager to shower life-giving water on the parched earth, Krishna was ready to shower the nectar of Gita's wisdom upon Arjuna to relieve his suffering. This verse highlights the 'Bhakta-Vatsala' (lover of devotees) nature of the Divine.

Approach someone in distress with compassion rather than judgment. Example: Instead of scolding a colleague for a mistake, offer support and guidance to fix it, mirroring Krishna's empathy.
