💡 Meaning

Then Arjuna said, 'O Lord, please take my chariot between the two armies so that I can see all these soldiers standing here.'

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse of Dnyaneshwari, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes Arjuna's state of mind as he prepares for the Great War. Arjuna asks Krishna to position the chariot in the middle of the battlefield. This act signifies the importance of situational awareness. Arjuna wants to witness the faces of those he is about to fight. It marks the calm before the storm, where the hero evaluates the magnitude of the task ahead while relying on the Divine Charioteer.

🎯 Practical Application

Before embarking on any significant project, it is vital to analyze the environment and the challenges involved. For example, a student should review the entire syllabus and exam pattern before starting their preparation.

📌 Context

Arjuna requests Lord Krishna to place his chariot between the two opposing armies to observe the warriors before the battle begins.

Dnyaneshwari Ch. 6, Verse 4

यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते । सर्वसंकल्पसंन्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्यते ॥

जेथ संकल्पाचां पायीं । विरक्ति जाली पाहीं । तेथ योगारूढु होई । ऐसें जाणा ॥

"Where detachment from the very root of desires occurs, know that one has become established in Yoga."

of desires or mental constructs
विरक्ति Noun

योगारूढु Adjective

established in Yoga
जाणा Verb
Jana
ओळखावे किंवा समजावे

पायीं Noun
Payi
ठायी किंवा मुळे
at the place of or due to

💡 Meaning

When detachment occurs at the very root of desires (Sankalpa), know that the person has become established in Yoga.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains that a seeker is considered to have ascended to the peak of Yoga only when they have achieved complete detachment from the root of all mental constructs—Sankalpa. As long as the mind is busy planning for results or driven by sensory attractions, it remains unstable. True Yoga is attained when the practitioner renounces these internal motivations and remains steady in the self.

🎯 Practical Application

In modern life, this means focusing on the process rather than being obsessed with the outcome. For example, a professional who works with full integrity without being distracted by the desire for fame or immediate reward is practicing the essence of this verse.

📌 Context

Shri Krishna defines the state of being 'Yogarudha' (one who has attained Yoga), and Saint Dnyaneshwar elaborates on the necessity of renouncing mental desires.

Dnyaneshwari Ch. 4, Verse 202

म्हणौनि कर्मे तरी कीजती । परि तीं कर्तेपणा न येती । जैसा सूर्य न प्रकाशे राती । तैसा तो गा ॥

"Therefore, actions are indeed performed, but they do not result in doership; just as the sun does not shine at night, so is he."

म्हणून
Therefore
कीजती Verb

कर्तेपणा Noun
Kartepana

प्रकाशे Verb

राती Noun
Raati
रात्री
At night
तैसा Adjective
Taisa
त्याप्रमाणे
In that manner

💡 Meaning

Therefore, actions are performed, but the sense of being the 'doer' does not arise. Just as the sun does not shine specifically for the night (as night doesn't exist for it), so is the state of the enlightened one.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj clarifies the nature of 'Akarma' (inaction in action). A person who has realized the Self continues to perform worldly duties for the benefit of society. However, because their ego has dissolved into universal consciousness, the sense of 'I am doing this' (Kartrutva-bhav) never arises. He uses the analogy of the sun: the sun doesn't 'try' to remove darkness; its very nature is light. Similarly, the actions of a realized soul are spontaneous and natural, leaving no karmic residue because the individual ego is absent.

🎯 Practical Application

Perform your duties as a natural expression of your role rather than a means to feed your ego. For example, just as breathing is natural and we don't take pride in it, our service to others should be spontaneous and free from the expectation of praise or the burden of 'doing'.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a realized soul performs actions without being bound by the ego of doership.
