💡 Meaning

One who is not disturbed by sorrows, has no longing for pleasures, and is free from attachment, fear, and anger is called a sage of steady mind.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the mental state of a realized soul. A person of steady wisdom is one whose mind remains unperturbed by sorrows and who has no craving for pleasures. By transcending the three major obstacles of the mind—attachment (Raga), fear (Bhaya), and anger (Krodha)—the individual attains a state of constant equanimity and spiritual stability.

🎯 Practical Application

In professional life, maintaining a calm demeanor during a high-pressure project without getting frustrated, and staying humble after receiving a major award, exemplifies this teaching.

📌 Context

Shri Krishna explains the characteristics of a person with stable wisdom (Sthitaprajna) to Arjuna.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj explains the stability of a Sthitaprajna (one with steady wisdom). Just as the ocean remains full and does not cross its boundaries despite countless rivers flowing into it, and does not diminish when they dry up, a person of steady wisdom remains undisturbed by worldly desires or external circumstances. Their inner peace is absolute and independent of external gains or losses. They are established in their own self, unaffected by the dualities of life.

🎯 Practical Application

Maintain inner peace regardless of external success or failure. For example, staying calm and composed during a major career promotion or an unexpected financial loss.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar describes the unwavering state of a self-realized soul using the metaphor of the ocean.

The performance should not be mechanical; it must be guided by a clear understanding of right and wrong and executed with a heart full of love or dedication. This balanced approach ensures that action (Karma) does not become a cause of bondage but a path to spiritual liberation.

🎯 Practical Application

When working in a professional environment, ensure your actions are ethical (Viveka) and perform your tasks with genuine interest and care (Saprema) rather than just for a paycheck. For example, a teacher should teach not just to finish the syllabus, but with a genuine desire to help students grow.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains how a seeker should perform their worldly duties without falling into unrighteousness.
