Major Contributions & Works
  • Education: Agarkarani along with Lokmanya Tilak and Vishnushastri Chiplunkar founded 'New English School' (1880) and 'Ferguson College' (1885). He played an important role in establishing 'Deccan Education Society'. He was the Principal of Ferguson College from 1892 till his death. [1, 2, 3]
  • Journalism (Sudharak & Kesari): He was the first editor of (Kesari) or newspaper. After ideological differences with Tilkanshi, he Tilkanchya Kesari started his own newspaper 'Sudharak', through which he spread progressive and reformist ideas. [1, 2, 3]
