Laxmanrao Kirloskar is often called the 'Father of Marathi Industry' for his pioneering spirit.
Born in Belgaum district, Laxmanrao started his career as a drawing teacher before moving into business. He started with a small bicycle repair shop and eventually founded Kirloskar Brothers.
His most significant contribution was the creation of the iron plough for Indian farmers, which replaced wooden ones and revolutionized agriculture. He later established the industrial township of Kirloskarvadi.
