💡 Meaning

Observe how the senses, driven by their inherent nature and strength, engage with their respective objects.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj elaborates on the concept of non-doership. He explains that for a realized soul, the movement of the senses toward their respective objects (like eyes toward form or ears toward sound) is seen as a natural process of Prakriti (Nature). The enlightened person understands that 'I am not the doer'; rather, it is the senses interacting with sense-objects. This detachment allows one to remain peaceful even while being active in the world.

🎯 Practical Application

In daily life, practice mindfulness by observing your actions without being overwhelmed by the ego. For example, while eating, realize that the body is being nourished and the tongue is tasting, but maintain an inner sense of being a witness rather than just a consumer.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the state of a person who has realized the truth, showing how their senses function independently of their inner peace.

Dnyaneshwari Ch. 4, Verse 77

कर्मण्यकर्म य: पश्येदकर्मणि च कर्म य: । स बुद्धिमान्मनुष्येषु स युक्त: कृत्स्नकर्मकृत् ॥

जेथ कर्म अकर्म होय । आणि अकर्मचि कर्म होय । हें विवंचितां डोळयांसि न ये । बुद्धीच्याही ॥ ७७ ॥

"Where action becomes inaction, and inaction itself becomes action; this, when contemplated, does not come to the eyes of even the intellect."

कर्म Noun
Karma
कार्य किंवा कृती
Action or deed
अकर्म Noun
Akarma
कर्माचा अभाव किंवा फळाची अपेक्षा नसलेले कर्म
Inaction or selfless action
विवंचितां Verb
Vivanchita
विचार केला असता किंवा शोध घेतला असता
While contemplating or analyzing
डोळयांसि Noun
Dolyansi
दृष्टीला किंवा डोळ्यांना
To the eyes or vision
बुद्धीच्याही Noun
Buddhichyahi
बुद्धीला सुद्धा
Even to the intellect

💡 Meaning

Where action is seen as inaction and inaction as action, this mystery remains elusive even to the keenest intellect.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj describes the subtle state of a realized soul. A wise person perceives that even while performing physical actions, there is a state of non-action (Akarma) because they are free from ego and attachment to results. Conversely, physical stillness is not true inaction if the mind is restless with desires. This profound truth is difficult to grasp even for a sharp intellect.

🎯 Practical Application

Practice mindfulness in daily tasks. For example, while studying, focus entirely on the subject without worrying about the grades, thus performing the action without the burden of the result.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the paradoxical nature of action and inaction as described in the Bhagavad Gita.

💡 Meaning

Therefore, O wise one, the sacrifice of knowledge is superior to the sacrifice of material objects among those who possess wisdom.

🔍 Deep Interpretation

In this verse, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj emphasizes that the 'Jnana Yajna' (the sacrifice of knowledge) is far superior to 'Dravyamaya Yajna' (sacrifices involving material objects). While material rituals have their place, they are often performed with a desire for results and involve external objects. Knowledge, however, leads to the ultimate realization of the self and dissolves all karmic bonds. For those who possess true wisdom (Prajnavid), the pursuit and attainment of spiritual knowledge is the highest form of worship because all actions eventually culminate in knowledge.

🎯 Practical Application

Instead of just performing rituals mechanically, focus on understanding the deeper meaning of your actions. For example, instead of just donating money blindly, understanding the impact and the right cause makes the act a 'knowledge-based' action, which is more meaningful.

📌 Context

Saint Dnyaneshwar explains the superiority of knowledge over material sacrifices in the path of self-realization.
